AWARDS CEREMONIES. ARE they anything more than a chance for celebrities to pat each other on the back and humiliate themselves?
They may be perfectly groomed and prepped by PR people, but get a few pints into them and our favourite actors and actresses are gas folk.
The Golden Globes was no different – here are some of the best moments from last night’s ceremony.
Emma Thompson presented an award while drinking a martini
And carrying her shoes. ONE OF US.
Jacqueline Bisset gives the most awkward acceptance speech ever
She was clearly flummoxed by winning the award for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Movie for her role in Dancing on the Edge.
Jennifer Lawrence threatened to push Taylor Swift down the stairs
Well, not really. But she did creep into the background during Swift’s interview with Ryan Seacrest, joking: “I was gonna come in and push you down the stairs.” Oh JLaw. Never change.
Mia Farrow continued throwing shade at Woody Allen
She wasn’t actually at the awards, but Mia Farrow managed to steal the show with a catty tweet directed at ex-partner Woody Allen, posted when Diane Keaton accepted the Cecil B. De Mille award on his behalf. Meow.
Amy Poehler giving Bono a huge snog before picking up her award
She won Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy and was excited enough about it to kiss Bono. (Hope Ali doesn’t mind.)
Jim Carrey makes a jab at Shia LaBeouf
He slyly referenced the young actor’s recent plagiarism controversy before presenting the award for Best Supporting Actor, saying: “Dying is easy. Comedy is hard. I think it was Shia LaBeouf that said that.” OOOOF.
Aaron Paul managed to get a “YEAH BITCH” in, even while collecting an important award
We admire his commitment.
